
I asked an AI agent to build four features on an existing codebase. It spent the first ten minutes reading 24 files — backend routes, type definitions, config files, package manifests — just to understand what it was looking at. By the time it was ready to write code, it had ingested 120KB of context.

Then I ran the same task on the same codebase, but this time the agent had access to structured session logs from the previous build sessions. It read 13 files. Ingested 33KB. Got to the same place — knowing what to build and how — with a fraction of the overhead.

But the real difference wasn't the token count. It was what the second agent *knew* that the first one couldn't.

## Code Tells You What. Not Why.

When an AI agent reads your codebase, it sees everything that exists. Every file, every function, every route. What it can't see is the reasoning behind it.

It doesn't know you chose local disk storage on purpose because cloud storage is planned for later. It doesn't know the chat system uses both REST and WebSocket deliberately — REST for paginated history, sockets for live messages. It doesn't know the matching algorithm uses a placeholder metric because you haven't built the real one yet.

So the agent makes assumptions. Reasonable ones. And sometimes those assumptions are wrong. It might add S3 integration when your team explicitly deferred it. It might refactor chat to be socket-only and break the pagination. It might build a sophisticated scoring system for a metric that was always meant to be temporary.

Each of these costs far more to fix than to prevent. The code shows the current state. The reasoning that produced it is gone — lost in a chat session that closed hours ago.

## What If the Agent Could Remember?

That's what I tested. I built a demo project — Cuff, a dating app concept — across several Claude Code sessions, with structured logging enabled throughout. Every time the agent made a decision, produced an output, hit a blocker, or reached a milestone, it logged what happened and why to an external memory vault via Woxpas.

Seven session logs captured the full build history. Not just what was created, but the reasoning: why npm workspaces over Turborepo, why Prisma over raw SQL, why a hybrid REST + Socket.IO architecture for chat, how the matching algorithm works and what it's substituting for.

Then I set up the real test. Same codebase, same task — build four new mobile features. Two sessions:

- **Path A** had access to the session logs via MCP
- **Path B** had only the filesystem

Both arrived at the same conclusion about what to build. The path to get there was different.

## The Numbers

The agent with session logs skipped 11 source files — API routes, shared type definitions, the API client. The logs had already documented what those files contain: endpoints, request/response shapes, interfaces. It only read files it was about to modify.

3.6x less data ingested. But more importantly — the agent with memory carried context that no amount of file reading could have provided.

## The Three Things Only Logs Know

The agent without memory understood the codebase perfectly. It could trace every function call, map every dependency. But it couldn't answer:

**Why is storage local?** The code has `multer` writing to disk. A competent agent sees this and thinks "this should be S3." The logs say: local storage is deliberate. Cloud storage is on the roadmap but deferred. Don't touch it.

**Why does chat use two protocols?** The code has both a REST endpoint and a Socket.IO connection for messaging. A competent agent sees redundancy and might consolidate. The logs say: REST handles paginated history that pre-dates the socket layer. Both are needed. Don't merge them.

**Why is the matching algorithm so simple?** The code has a basic scoring function. A competent agent might think it's an MVP placeholder that needs sophistication. The logs say: profile completeness is a deliberate stand-in because behavioral data doesn't exist yet. The simplicity is the design, not a shortcut.

In each case, the agent without memory would make a reasonable choice that happens to be wrong. The cost of that wrong choice — building something, reviewing it, reverting it, rebuilding — is orders of magnitude more than the cost of loading a few kilobytes of session logs.

## What Broke Along the Way

This didn't work on the first try.

The biggest challenge was getting agents to actually log consistently. Instructions alone weren't enough — the agent would get deep into a coding problem and forget it was supposed to be documenting its work. We ended up combining custom project instructions with enforcement hooks that remind the agent to log before it writes code. Once the enforcement was in place, logging became reliable.

The second problem was retrieval efficiency. The initial implementation returned too much data at session start — hundreds of kilobytes of metadata when the agent just needed a lightweight list of what logs exist. We added filtering by project and document type, a summary-only mode for browsing, and batch retrieval for the cases where full content is needed. The retrieval layer had to be as lean as the logs themselves, or the overhead cancelled out the savings.

The third problem was log quality. The first round of logs said things like "Created API server with all routes." Useless for the next session — it still had to read every route file to understand the interfaces. The logs needed to capture enough detail that another agent could continue without re-reading source files, but not so much that they became source code dumps. We landed on 3-5 sentences per entry, focused on interfaces — what it accepts, what it returns, what it exports.

## How It Works

The protocol has three phases.

**Session start.** The agent checks if a project scope exists in the memory vault, loads previous session logs, and reviews decisions, blockers, and checkpoints before starting any work. If this is a new project, it creates a scope and skips the review — there's nothing to load yet.

**During the session.** After each logical unit of work — a feature, a fix, a research pass, an architecture choice — the agent logs what happened and why before moving on. The unit is the intent, not the file count. Twenty files scaffolded for one feature is one log entry. The logs are saved to the vault in real time, not batched at the end.

**Session end.** The agent writes a final summary: what was accomplished, key decisions, and what to build next. This is what the next session reads first.

The logs live in Woxpas, which means they're accessible from any MCP-compatible tool. Claude Code writes the logs today; Cursor picks them up tomorrow. One memory, every tool.

## What's Still Missing

The logs don't yet include an explicit continuation plan. Our last session log said "all features complete" but gave no direction for what comes next. The next agent had to figure out the roadmap from scratch. A dedicated next-steps section in the session summary would close this gap.

There's also work to do on teaching agents to trust the logs. Even with good session logs loaded, agents sometimes re-read source files out of an abundance of caution. The logs reduce file reads significantly — 13 versus 24 in our test — but the ideal is that an agent only reads files it's about to modify. We're not there yet.

## Who Is This For?

Anyone building with AI agents across multiple sessions. If you're a developer using Claude Code or Cursor on a project that takes more than one sitting, your agent is rediscovering context every time it starts. If you're a founder running agents across code, marketing, and operations, decisions are being made and forgotten daily. If you manage a team where AI makes choices, you need an audit trail.

The session logs are queryable. "What decisions were made about authentication?" returns exactly that. "What blocked the last session?" returns the blockers. "What was the reasoning behind the current architecture?" returns the tradeoffs. Three months from now, when someone asks "why was this built this way?" — the answer is in the logs, not lost in a closed chat window.

I opened Claude and typed "Hello."

That's it. One word. No instructions, no follow-up prompts, no "give me a summary of my tasks." Just hello.

And Claude came back with my entire day. Today's priority — the OpenClaw demo I'd flagged as due. Four overdue items with exactly how many days late each one was. Three upcoming deadlines. Seventeen unresolved contradictions in my notes, with the top three surfaced and contextualized. And a suggested order for what to tackle first.

I didn't ask for any of it.

## How Did We Get Here?

A bit of context: I've been stress-testing Woxpas by using it myself as I build it. Everything you see in that screenshot — the projects, deadlines, conflicts — is test data from weeks of real usage, not a curated demo. Some of it's real work, some of it's noise I'd never save as a normal user. That's the point. The system handles both.

Over those weeks, I've been dumping everything into Woxpas. Meeting notes, half-formed product ideas, session logs from coding with Claude Code, blog post drafts, personal deadlines, project decisions. Some of it messy. Most of it untagged. None of it organized.

That's the point. I don't want to organize my thoughts — I want to think, and have the organization happen behind me.

Woxpas is a memory layer that sits underneath every AI tool I use. When I save a thought in Claude, it's there when I open ChatGPT. When Cursor makes an architecture decision, that decision shows up in my daily briefing the next morning. One memory, everywhere.

The extraction pipeline handles the rest. Every piece of text I save gets processed — entities extracted, commitments identified, events detected, claims mapped. When two claims contradict each other (and they do — I'm human), the system flags the conflict and asks me to resolve it.

All of that happens automatically. I never tag anything. I never categorize. I just save and move on.

## What Happened When I Said Hello

When I opened a new Claude session, three things happened before Claude even responded:

1. **Preferences loaded** — Claude already knows who I am, how I communicate, what tools I use, what I'm working on. This isn't Claude's built-in memory. It's my portable preference profile that syncs across every AI tool.

2. **Daily digest pulled** — An AI-generated briefing that synthesizes everything in my vault into priorities, overdue items, upcoming deadlines, and insights. Updated daily.

3. **Conflicts checked** — Seventeen contradictions across my notes, ranked by urgency. The top one: my own positioning of Woxpas. Is it a memory product or a coherence layer for multi-agent trust? (Turns out it's both — memory at the core, coherence as an emergent property. But that's a different post.)

Claude didn't need me to explain what I'm working on. It didn't need context. It just read the vault and gave me my day.

## The Part That Gets Interesting

After looking at the briefing, I realized something. If Claude can read my vault and tell me what to work on — so can an autonomous agent.

Imagine connecting this to OpenClaw. The agent wakes up, reads the digest, sees that the demo is due today. It has scoped access to the right project files. It runs the demo, logs a session summary back to the vault — what it did, what it found, any blockers. If it hits a decision that needs my input, it prepares the action and waits for my approval.

Tomorrow morning, I say hello again. The digest includes what the agent accomplished overnight. I can query why it made specific choices. I can see if its decisions conflict with anything else in my vault. Full audit trail, no extra work.

The memory is the foundation. The agents are just hands.

## Why This Matters

Every AI tool you use today starts from zero. ChatGPT doesn't know what Claude decided yesterday. Cursor doesn't remember what you told ChatGPT last week. You are the integration layer — re-explaining context, re-stating preferences, re-describing your projects across every tool, every session.

I Said Hello and Got My Whole Day Back


I keep everything in Woxpas. Meeting notes, half-formed ideas at 2AM, recipes I want to try, project decisions, even contradictory thoughts I haven't resolved yet. It's my memory — messy, human, and mine.

Some of what's in there is serious. Architecture decisions for a product I'm building. Commitments I made to people. Deadlines I'll forget if something doesn't remind me. Some of it is completely trivial. My friend Kirill's doner preferences (we had a whole back and forth — chicken, not vegan). A TV show recommendation for learning German.

That's how memory works. It's not a filing cabinet. It's everything — important and unimportant, structured and chaotic — and the value comes from being able to pull out what you need, when you need it, regardless of where you originally stored it.

The thing that makes Woxpas different from a notes app is that it works across every AI tool I use. I save a thought in Claude, and when I switch to ChatGPT or open Cursor, that thought is already there. No copy-pasting. No re-explaining. One memory, everywhere.

OpenClaw exploded. 60,000 GitHub stars in 72 hours. Now 247,000 and counting. Developers are running autonomous agents that manage their code, handle their emails, schedule their days, and automate workflows while they sleep. It's the closest thing to a personal AI assistant most people have ever used.

And then Summer Yue from Meta posted that her OpenClaw agent deleted her inbox.

That's not an edge case — that's the reality of autonomous agents. They're powerful, they're useful, and nobody is tracking what they actually decide. OpenClaw stores memory as local markdown files. Claude Code forgets everything when the session ends. ChatGPT's memory is a black box you can't query. Cursor doesn't remember what it did yesterday.

When these tools were just answering questions, that was fine. But now they're choosing technologies, structuring databases, managing budgets, writing production code, and running marketing campaigns. They're making real decisions — and those decisions disappear the moment the session closes.

I experienced this firsthand. Claude Code chose PostgreSQL for a project. Two days later, a conversation about the same project recommended MongoDB. Woxpas caught the contradiction — it already detects conflicting information across your memory. But it made me realise: this isn't just about me contradicting myself anymore. It's about my agents contradicting each other. And if I can't even track the decisions two coding agents made on the same project, what happens when I have agents running campaigns, handling customer data, and deploying code — all autonomously?

## So We Built Agent Audit Into the Toolkit

The latest addition to Woxpas is a decision ledger for your AI agents. It works like this:

When an AI agent completes a task — writing code, running research, managing a campaign — it logs a session summary to your vault. Not just "what it did" but why. The technology it chose and the alternatives it rejected. The tradeoffs it acknowledged. The commitments it created.

Woxpas processes these logs the same way it processes everything else in your memory. It extracts entities, decisions, commitments, and events. It checks for conflicts against everything else in your vault — including decisions made by other agents, or things you said yourself three weeks ago.

Then you can ask questions in natural language:

**"Is the auth system set up as static or dynamic client registration?"** — Woxpas pulls the decision from the agent's session log, cites the source, and gives you the answer with the reasoning chain.

**"Was the marketing budget changed to 200k?"** — If you have agents running campaigns, every budget decision they make is logged. Your marketing agent adjusted the spend? It's in the vault. You don't have to dig through dashboards or Slack threads. Ask the question, get the cited answer.

**"Who decided to switch the API from REST to GraphQL, and when?"** — If Claude Code made that call on Tuesday and Cursor's agent built on top of it on Thursday, the full decision chain is in your vault. Auditable. Queryable. Permanent.

**"Are there any contradictions between what my code agent built and what was originally planned?"** — Woxpas checks the agent's decisions against your original commitments and flags any drift. The same conflict detection that catches your own contradictory notes now catches your agents contradicting each other — or contradicting you.

What happened over the next few days is what this post is actually about. Not the app (it's a scaffold right now, not a product). But the workflow — specifically how I went from a WhatsApp joke to a running project structure across three different AI tools, without ever having to repeat myself or re-explain what I was building.

That part genuinely surprised me. So I figured it was worth writing down.

## The save that started it

I didn't think much of it at the time. After the WhatsApp thread I just opened Woxpas and typed roughly what I'd said to my friend: *"thinking of a new idea - something to do with dating in the cuffing season. it seems interesting - need to explore more."*

No tags. No project folder. No "is this worth keeping?" deliberation. Just saved it and moved on.

This is the part that sounds small but isn't. Most ideas die because the effort of capturing them properly exceeds the energy you have in the moment. Woxpas removes that friction — you save the mess, it handles the structure. I've started treating it like a brain dump that actually has a memory.

## A few days later — ChatGPT expands it

I wasn't planning to work on the idea. I just opened ChatGPT and, on a whim, asked what was in my vault. GPT called Woxpas via MCP and returned a list of things I'd saved. The cuffing season note was right there.

I asked it to expand on the concept — what would the app actually do, who's it for, what makes it different from just using Hinge in October. We went back and forth for a while. By the end I had something that felt like a real product direction: a time-boxed dating experience built around the seasonal psychology of wanting company in winter, not necessarily forever.

Then I asked GPT to save the expansion back to my vault. One prompt. Done.

## Claude picks it up — no re-explaining required

Next day, different tool. I opened Claude and typed: *"Pull my cuffing season dating app idea from my vault and recommend a tech stack."*

Claude retrieved everything — the original note and GPT's full expansion — and came back with a proper recommendation based on what the app was actually supposed to do. It understood the concept because the context was there. I didn't summarise anything. I didn't paste in the previous conversation. I just asked.

This is the bit that still gets me. Two different AI tools, two different days, and the second one picked up exactly where the first left off. That's not how AI is supposed to work — except now it kind of is.

I saved Claude's recommendation back to the vault.

## Claude Code — from idea to scaffold

With a product direction and a tech stack in the vault, I opened Claude Code and gave it a simple prompt: pull the plan and set up the project.

It did. Files created, dependencies installed, basic project structure in place. What exists right now is a scaffold — the bones of something, not a finished product. Login screen, homepage, core navigation. You could show it to someone and they'd understand what it's trying to be, but there's a long road between here and the App Store.

I'm going to keep building it. Partly because it's a fun problem, partly because I want to see if the idea my friend and I joked about actually has legs. If it becomes something real, Part 2 of this post will be a lot more interesting.

## What I actually learned from this

The app is almost beside the point. What this experiment showed me is that the context problem with AI tools — the constant re-explaining, the fresh-slate frustration every time you switch tools or start a new session — is solvable. Not perfectly, not magically, but genuinely.

The workflow is simple enough that I now do it without thinking:

- Save ideas when they happen, without organising them
- Start AI sessions by asking what's in the vault
- Save outputs back before closing a session
- When switching tools, let the new AI pull context instead of you providing it

That last one is the habit that changed things for me. "Pull X from my vault" is three words. It shouldn't feel like a revelation. But compared to copy-pasting between tools or re-explaining a project from scratch, it kind of does.

## Where this goes next

The scaffold is sitting on my machine. I'm planning to keep building — probably in short sessions, probably across multiple tools depending on what I need. When there's something worth showing, I'll write Part 2.

If the app turns out to be terrible, I'll write that too. The point was never really the app. It was figuring out a way to work across AI tools without losing everything between sessions.

That part already works. The rest is just building.


I Used 3 AIs to Turn a WhatsApp Joke Into a Working App Scaffold (Part 1)


Last week, 1.5 million people tried to leave ChatGPT. Most of them discovered something uncomfortable: months of carefully built context — their preferences, their projects, their working style — was locked inside a platform they no longer wanted to use.

Anthropic rushed out a memory import tool. Google started testing chat history imports for Gemini. Both solutions involve the same clunky process: export your data, copy it, paste it somewhere else, hope the new system understands it. It's a one-time migration, not a real solution.

And it exposed a deeper problem that nobody in AI is talking about honestly.

## Every AI Platform Wants to Own Your Memory

Claude has memory. ChatGPT has memory. Gemini is building memory. Copilot has memory. Each one stores what it learns about you in its own walled garden. None of them talk to each other.

If you use Claude for writing, ChatGPT for research, Cursor for coding, and Llama locally for sensitive work — congratulations, you now have four separate AI identities. Four cold starts every time you switch tools. Four platforms that each know a fraction of who you are and how you work.

This isn't a bug. It's a business model. The more context an AI has about you, the harder it is to leave. Your memory is the lock-in.

## The Pentagon Fallout Made This Visible

When OpenAI announced its Pentagon deal on February 28, the backlash was immediate. ChatGPT uninstalls surged 295% in a single day. One-star reviews jumped 775%. The "Cancel ChatGPT" movement went mainstream overnight.

But here's what made it painful: people didn't just want to leave. They wanted to leave *with their stuff*. Reddit threads filled with guides on how to export data, how to extract memories, how to migrate to Claude or Gemini without starting over. The switching cost wasn't the subscription fee. It was the context.

Anthropic's import tool was a smart response, but it's fundamentally a band-aid. You paste a prompt into ChatGPT, get a text dump, paste it into Claude. It works once. But what happens when you update your preferences next week? What happens when you want to use a different model for a different task? You're back to managing memory across platforms manually.

## The Real Problem: Memory Shouldn't Live Inside the Model

Think about how your computer works. Your files don't live inside Chrome. They live on your filesystem, and any application can access them. You don't re-upload your documents every time you switch browsers.

AI memory should work the same way. Your preferences, your working context, your projects, your communication style — that's *your* data. It should live in a layer you control, accessible by whatever AI you choose to use at any given moment.

This is what we're building with Woxpas.

## Not Just Preferences — A Full Memory Layer

The preference file handles the lightweight stuff: tone, tools, style, role. But Woxpas goes deeper. Our extraction pipeline processes everything you save — meeting notes, ideas, decisions, tasks — and builds a structured knowledge graph of entities, relationships, events, and commitments.

When an AI agent needs to act on your behalf, it doesn't just know that you prefer Python. It knows who John is, what your meeting with him is about, what you decided last week, and what's on your plate today. That's the difference between an AI assistant and an AI that actually works for you.

The hardest part of any memory system is keeping it accurate. Preferences drift. Facts change. You moved from London to Berlin, but your AI still thinks you're in the UK.

An agent with access to your memory, your preferences, your tasks, your relationships, your decision history — that agent can actually exercise judgment.
